Professional Education & Research
Purpose: The goal of this is to ensure the highest level of trainee subject matter expertise. This course maximizes the efficiency of training time and streamlines the training process. It ensures that personnel possess the most accurate, current, and relevant information available. PEAR identifies and provides professional education and research material to the trainee, at strategic points in their training process and continues throughout their career. It is a process that continually improves knowledge, skills, and capabilities. It provides the trainee with intensive studies that enhance subject matter expertise, customer background information, historical debriefings, oral histories, video, and book reviews. These materials will provide the background needed to assist the trainee in their qualification training.
The Training Manager and senior trainers for each course are responsible to identify, and prioritize all required PEAR material required to effectively train and educate assigned personnel. They will ensure that all PEAR material is identified and listed in the trainee’s training plan and MTL.
Identify and place each PEAR assignment in the appropriate phase of training.
List the PEAR assignments with corresponding training tasks or requirements.
Each team is responsible to maintain all PEAR materials listed or provide access to materials identified in the MTL. PEAR material will be easily accessible to trainees at all times.
Each trainee will accomplish the required PEAR assignments prior to beginning any follow on training activities.
Trainers will ensure trainees have accomplished PEAR assignments required for specific training tasks.
Other PEAR Courses: The PEAR course includes attendance or observation of other courses and other related training tasks. Training modules can include any type of formal or informal military or civilian classes that enhance trainee capability.
These courses will be identified by Phase in the MTL. There are PEAR assignments that will only be identified for completion during specific phases of training not by specific task requirement. These assignments will be listed in the MTL.
